Well, i got engaged, but planned it in the best area possible, western NC. anyways, the Fiance took this video of me driving Deals Gap. It made up a lot for not autocrossing for the last 2 months.....

Jesse, cool video, I love the way the camera leans into the turns! That would be a great road for the Supermoto bike.
Congratulations to you and Emily

Jesse, The posted 30MPH is a joke for motorcycles so I'm curious as to how much speed you were carrying on average in the Mustang. Camera fiance' did a good job. Congrats!!

well, its 9.3 miles from the gas station to the overlook and i made it in 12min 56 sec. so i believe that averages out to just over 43 mph. As for top speed, i hit the rev limiter in 2nd several times, so somewhere around 70.
I made a pass on my old superhawk a few years ago in the high 11 minute range that would have been somewhere around 47 mph average, but the bike is much narrower and i could pick lines instead of just trying my best to stay inside the double yellow.
I didn't shift to third for fear of overcooking a corner. there aren't any runoffs for cars.... i also backed off a lot when i saw other vehicles and wasn't very aggressive with the throttle until i was in a straight line, the tires i had on were some that are much harder than what i run at autocross. Not much lateral grip or foward grip, especially compared to the hankook rs3. if i had actually been trying really hard i probably could have done it in 12 minutes flat, maybe with lots of practice. if the road was closed, and i could use all of it instead of staying in my lane, probably much faster than that.
I think the car record is in the 9 minute range, set in an FD RX7 on slicks with the road closed to traffic. they don't do that anymore, so i'm sure it won't be touched. there would be a lot of time to be gained if the entire road could be used instead of staying in the yellow lines. staying in the lines basically turns it into the worlds longest autocross.
