from what i read he had just bought those wheels, along with new lug nuts, and the lug nuts were the wrong size. i don't think he torqued them properly or he would have found out

I believe that was Franz. He let me drive it once and it was like a dream come true! I've always wanted a FD. It was a long time ago, so don't hold me to it, but I heard a nearby tire service installed the wheels and tires that day and didn't use the correct lugs.

That was one expensive mistake! Of course it could have been the car gods spiting him for putting such narrow tires on an RX-7.
