ok so i did the calculations to see haw many revolutions at a minimum my #four rod bearing lasted before it failed. I used car moving engine running only 5th gear on stock wheels multiplied by 178000 miles. there are 1929 revs in 5th rear per km, 1.609 km in a mile (1929x1.609=3103.761 revs per mile) 178000 miles x 3103.761 revolutions =552,469,458 revs. Thats over half a billion revolutions at a minimum, now throw in engine idling, and any other gear than 5th and its likely closer to a billion. Wow have we not come pretty far, imagine a wagon wheel only made it like a thousand miles just a 120 years ago. Dan you need a hobby for the other three weekends a month we don't race!

I figured it out explaining it to Mel. I was showing the parts to her and I had said it probably lasted a billion revolutions. Then I felt the need to acually figure it out.

Here is an excellent link i found for Miata of all years owners to use. www.mellens.net/mazda/index.htmlIt is the electronic dealership shop manuals in PDF. Just make sure you download the ones you need now, usually someone takes down good info in a short amount of time.
